Oscar J. Rodríguez Ortiz is a 14-year-old catcher and a student at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola. From a young age, Oscar has shown a deep passion for sports and an energetic, competitive spirit.
His journey in baseball began after watching the Team Rubio Classic, which inspired him to ask his family to sign him up for the sport. That moment marked the beginning of his baseball career, when he received his first bat and glove.
Oscar first played with the Indians of Bayamón, later joining the Huskies of Guaynabo, where he demonstrated versatility by playing multiple positions, standing out particularly as a shortstop and pitcher. After moving to Florida, a coach recognized his potential behind the plate and transitioned him to catcher—a position that quickly became his primary role.
Upon returning to Puerto Rico, Oscar was selected to represent Puerto Rico’s U12 National Team as a catcher. Following this achievement, he spent three years playing with the Maceteros de Vega Alta, continuing to develop his skills and leadership on the field.
Oscar looks up to Yadier Molina as his role model and aspires to follow in his footsteps through hard work, discipline, and dedication to the game.
