Matías J. Rivera Collazo is an 11-year-old athlete whose passion for baseball began at an early age. He started playing at just four years old, quickly showing a genuine love for the game and life on the field. Even while accompanying his older brother to practices, Matías never stood on the sidelines—he actively joined drills, practiced on his own, and assisted the coach, demonstrating his strong commitment and eagerness to learn.
From his early years, Matías has worked relentlessly toward his goals, standing out for his discipline, leadership, and dedication. Through perseverance and teamwork, he helped lead his team, the Lobos, to win the Puerto Rico championship at the 9U level and successfully defend the title at the 10U level—milestones that highlight his steady growth and development as a player.
On the field, Matías contributes as a catcher, infielder, and pitcher, performing with confidence and excellence in each role. As a pitcher, he shows strong control, responsibility, and mental toughness, making a meaningful impact on his team’s performance. These positions demand focus, accountability, and a high baseball IQ—qualities Matías consistently displays. He is also known for his natural leadership, motivating his teammates with energy, respect, and positivity. Because of this, his teammates affectionately call him “El Capi,” a nickname that reflects the trust and admiration he earns both on and off the field.
In 2025, Matías had the opportunity to compete in the PONY World Series, an experience that marked an important step in his athletic journey and allowed him to proudly represent his talent on an international stage.
Matías is a devoted fan of the New York Mets and deeply admires Roberto Clemente, not only for his excellence as a player but also for his integrity, values, and humanitarian legacy—principles Matías strives to emulate both on and off the field.
